The Nature and Nurture quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley is a pivotal story mission that introduces Scar and restores life to the Sunlit Plateau. Completing this assignment requires players to explore treacherous mines, brew explosive beverages, and tend to a magical orb over several days. Follow this step-by-step guide to navigate every objective and fully restore the river's flow.
Investigating Scar and the Vitalys Mines
To begin the quest, head to the Elephant Graveyard in the Sunlit Plateau and speak with Scar inside the giant skull. He directs you to the nearby Vitalys Mines located behind the waterfall at the river's mouth. Bring plenty of energy-restoring food, as clearing rock formations inside will quickly consume your stamina.
Navigate through the cavern paths by clearing Night Thorns and mining spots with your pickaxe. Reach the mining camp at the back of the cavern to locate a chest holding special crafting items. Read the sign near the red barrel to learn how to clear the blockage affecting the river.
Brewing Extra Fizzy Root Beer
Return to a cooking station to prepare the required explosive mixture. Combine sugarcane, vanilla, and the special dried ginger found inside the mine chest. Do not use regular ginger from the Forgotten Lands, as it will not trigger the necessary reaction.
Head back to the red barrel inside the mines with your newly crafted drink and crackling candies. Place both ingredients into the barrel to trigger a reaction that dissolves the blocking Night Thorns. This action successfully restores the water level throughout the plateau.
Pursuing The Forgotten and Crafting the Elixir
Step outside the mines and follow the dark portal that appears near the elephant bones. Enter the portal, pick up the dropped Orb of Nurturing, and present it to Merlin in the valley. He explains that you must construct a Miracle Growth Elixir to power up your Royal Watering Can.
Gather 10 Vitalys Crystals from mining nodes, 10 Rich Soil from harvesting planted crops, and 1,000 Dreamlight. Craft the elixir at any workbench and select it from your inventory to apply the upgrade. Speak to Merlin once more to receive final instructions on restoring the orb.
Restoring the Pillar of Nurturing
Take the Orb of Nurturing to the southern section of the Sunlit Plateau where the purple pillar stands. Dig a hole directly in front of the pillar, plant the orb, and water it thoroughly. You will need to tend to the planted orb for approximately two real-time days until it fully grows.
Check back regularly to ensure the soil remains moist and water it whenever it appears dry. Once the orb has fully matured, harvest it and place it into the Pillar of Nurturing. Conclude the mission by speaking with Scar to finalize your progress.
